Sächsische Artillerie, C.Burckardt's Nachfolger Weissenburg No.1254

Hello,

Today I'm showing you another printed sheet from Weissenburg, this time number 1254 from C.Burckardt's successor.

It depicts Saxon artillery, specifically a firing gun with crew, as well as two limbers with - and without mounted gun. The uniform with helmet was worn by the Saxon artillery from 1867 onwards.

The printed sheet itself was stencil-colored.

The figures are approximately 7 cm tall.

Best regards,

Andreas

Württembergische Infanterie, C.Burckardt's Nachfolger Weissenburg No.1251

 Hello,

Today I'm showing you another printed sheet from C. Burckardt's successor from Weissenburg (Wissembourg).

It's number 1251, which depicts Württemberg infantry. The soldiers are already wearing the spiked helmet introduced in 1871, but still wear the double-breasted jacket. The uniform can therefore be narrowed down to the period 1871 to 1892.

The figures are 8 cm tall and, as is usual with this manufacturer, rather poorly colored.

Best regards,

Andreas

Preußische Artillerie, C.Burckardt's Nachfolger Weissenburg No.241

 Hello,

After showing very high-quality printed plates the last few times, today I'm going to show you the opposite.

Today I'm showing you No. 241 from "C. Burckardt's Nachfolger, Weissenburg" (formerly Wentzel) featuring Prussian artillerymen. As was often the case back then, this one was printed on very thin, poor-quality paper.

The graphics and the print itself are fine, but the coloring was done using stencils. Unfortunately, the coloring didn't always hit the right area. In some places, the ink soaked into the paper, and in some places the still-wet paint was smudged. Nevertheless, a nice example of the cheap mass production of the time.

And definitely good enough to create my own hand-painted figures using the scans of this plate – but more on that later.

Best regards,

Andreas
