After presenting the Fischbach catalog just a few days ago, I thought I’d simply continue with these lovely figures.
Here are two well-preserved officers from Fischbach Set No. 4—the Algerian Tirailleurs, or *Turcos*. Unfortunately, these are the only two figures I have from this set. I hope to add more soldiers to their ranks at some point in the future.
The total height of the figures, including their kepis, is 9.5 cm.

Today, I would like to add a new "category" to my blog: the "Catalog."
In this section, I will attempt to compile a list of all the motifs I am aware of for each specific manufacturer (or a particular series). Whenever I come across new information or images, I will add them to the list.
I am kicking things off today with the French manufacturer, Fischbach.
Gustave Fischbach acquired the Silbermann printing house in Strasbourg from the son of the late Gustave Adolphe Henri Silbermann and, in 1873, began printing his own paper figures. The figures appeared on a total of ten sheets and were entirely dedicated to the French Army, depicted in the uniforms of 1872. All of the figures were drawn by Alfred Touchemolin and printed using oil-based inks (a technique that had previously been employed by Silbermann). The sheets typically measured 33 × 43 cm (for the infantry) and 50 × 35 cm (for the cavalry). The series designation, numbered from 1 to 10, was located in the upper left corner; the captions for the individual figures were printed in both German and French. The series was distributed between 1873 and 1914.

today I'm showing you a find from the French eBay. These are soldiers from printing sheet No. 1, featuring French infantry by Gustave Fischbach.
These figures, drawn by Alfred Touchemolin, were printed with oil paints between 1873 and 1914. Unfortunately, only 7 of the 27 figures on the sheet have survived.
The figures are mounted on thick cardboard. Two of the figures needed wooden supports to stand upright again, and one bayonet had to be reattached, but otherwise they are in quite good condition. They are 9 cm tall.

Today I'm showing you another Fischbach printed sheet.
This time, issue number 5, featuring the French Hussars. The drawings are again by Alfred Touchemolin and show the uniforms introduced after 1871.
It's always difficult to measure the height of riders, but they are probably about 8 cm or slightly taller.

Today I'm showing you Plate No. 2 by Fischbach.
It depicts 27 French Zouaves in their post-1872 uniforms. The graphics were drawn by Alfred Touchemolin, and the plates were produced between 1873 and 1914.
In detail, you can see a total of four different officers, including one with a flag, three sergeants, two corporals, three clairons, and 15 soldiers.
The figures measure 9.5 cm.

Today I'm showing you print sheet number 8 from Fischbach (Strasbourg).
It demonstrates the fine art of paper soldier production. Finely detailed printing, high register precision, vibrant oil colors, and the silver as a true metallic color! Unfortunately, this is the only Fischbach plate I've come across in the almost twenty years since I started buying paper soldiers. As far as I know, there were a total of ten different plates of the French Army in uniforms from 1872 onwards. The drawings of the figures were originally by Alfred Touchemolin. The figures are about 13 cm tall, and the riders are about 9 to 9.5 cm tall.
