Reichsheer Stab, RAPI S6 pt.2

Hello and happy first Advent!

Today I'm showing you the second part of the Reichswehr staff set by Rauert & Pittius, consisting of the mounted soldiers.

A complete set would contain 10 different riders. Unfortunately, only 6 of mine survived. However, all the staff officers are present, so "only" four of the accompanying cavalry guard are missing.

Adjutant (Stabsoffizier der Kavallerie) / General / Generalstabsoffizier
Adjutant (Cavalry Staff Officer) / General / General Staff Officer

Stabsoffizier der Infanterie / Stabsoffizier der Artillerie / Kavalleriesoldat
Infantry Staff Officer / Artillery Staff Officer / Cavalry Soldier

The riders are approximately 11 cm tall, which corresponds to a figure height of 8 cm.

Best regards,

Andreas

Imageries Reunies Jarville-Nancy - 202 Mousquetaires Louis XIII, Louis XIV

Hello,

today I'm showing you another sheet from Jarville-Nancy. This time it features musketeers from the reigns of Louis XIII and Louis XIV – soldiers from the time of the Thirty Years' War and shortly thereafter.

There are a total of six different figures. At 15 cm, they are quite large for paper soldiers.

Best regards,

Andreas

Reichsheer Stab, RAPI S6 pt.1

Hello,

today I'm showing you some more figures from Rauert & Pittius. This time it's the motorized half of sheet No. 6, Reichswehr Staff. I'll present the mounted officers separately.

The motorized part consists of a car and three motorcycles – and I'm very happy that they've all survived intact till today.

The car with the officers is 16 cm long and 7.5 cm high.

The motorcycles are about 10 cm long and 7 cm high. The motorcycle license plates indicate that two of them belong to the Berlin military district and one to the Stettin military district (RW 2276). Was the artist aware of this, or did they simply use arbitrary numbers?

Whoever originally cut out the figures did a masterpiece with the motorcycles. Every single spoke, every opening in the engine, and every tiny pipe was cut out individually! That's a task I would never have done myself. As a result, the figures are also very fragile. It's all the more wonderful that they've survived the last hundred years so well.

Best regards,

Andreas

German Army - Marcel Vagné No.528

Hello,

today I'm showing you another sheet from Vagné.

This one is number 528 and depicts an overview of troops from the German Army. Besides a few Bavarian and Saxon figures, it's naturally the Prussians who dominate. The figures are meant to represent the uniforms of 1889 (only the Bavarians are shown with references to earlier years). The whole thing is drawn in the typical comic style of this Vagné series.

The figures are about 7.5 cm tall.

Best regards,

Andreas

Kunstanstalten A.G. München - Englische Maschinengewehr-Abteilung

Hello,

today I'm showing you two more freshly restored figures from the Kunstanstalten München. The figures from this series, which I acquired some time ago, unfortunately all have some mold on the back. I'm cleaning them very carefully with a little isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab, trying not to over-moisten the paper so that the front doesn't get soggy or even damaged.

The original inscription on this group of figures was "Maschinengewehr-Abteilung" (Machine Gun Detachment). They were probably printed on sheet number 6. Based on the checkered field caps, I assume it's a Scottish unit. The figures are each 9.5 cm long and 6.5 cm high.

Best regards,

Andreas

Alfred Jacobsen Nr.341 - Danske Dragoner

Hello,

today I'm showing you a printed sheet from Alfred Jacobsen's Danske Billeder series.

It's number 341 and depicts Danish dragoons.

Jacobsen's sheets have always fascinated me because, in my opinion, they are very attractively drawn and also very well printed.

Besides the attacking dragoons, the two pipe-smoking soldiers in field caps are particularly noteworthy.

The high number (341 of about 400 in total) suggests that this sheet was produced sometime after 1915.

The horsemen are between 9 and 10 cm tall, which corresponds to a figure size of 7.5 to 8 cm.

Best regards,
Andreas

Motorisierte Infanterie, RAPI S114

Hello,

today I'm showing you another cut-out figure from Rauert & Pittius of Sorau (RAPI). It's a motorcyclist from sheet number 114. A complete sheet would contain four motorcycles and four cars, but unfortunately, I only have this single piece in my collection.

The figure is 12 cm long and 8 cm high.

Andreas
